Hi,
My name is Yumi and I am about to get hemodialysis for the first time. I have had kidney disease since being pregnant with my daughter, who is 9 now. I am so grateful people are sharing their experiences for new people like me. I am terrified of needles and will start with in center hemo dialysis then transition to home hemodialysis with my husband as caregiver. Any advice is appreciated. Nice to meet everyone.

Alicia, you do know you don't have to go on dialysis if you don't want to. I am stage four with ADPKD which is kidneys with lots of cysts. Dialysis is not a cure, it just prolongs the process. Myself I don't wish to be hooked up to a machine all the time. But my problem is dealing with the pain. My GFR went down 10 points in two months. But then it goes back up sometimes. I don't understand that. I'm 79 and just getting tired and can't take anymore pain. I wish someone would give us some answers.
