Just learned I have Stage 3 CKD

I am so grateful to have found this site because it is loaded with information and I look forward to learning from all of you. I have spent the past two days reading about this disease. My GFR is 35 and my Creatinine is 1.52. I am also pre-diabetic with Hgb Alc 6.3 glucose 104. LOVE food (especially unhealthy ones) so this feels like a real hurdle because of having the CDK & pre-diabetes. I am 5-10 pounds from my goal weight, and that is because I lost 29 pounds over the course of several months by using portion control. Fortunately I know how to cook low sodium because my husband is a heart transplant patient and I had to cook that way for him for over a year prior to transplant. He said he will join me in eating better. My first appointment with a nephrologist is August 10, so I'm sure I will learn more at that time. I am almost 68 years old...guess it is about time to start taking better care of myself!

    Hi All!!

So Happy To Post Again With NO Spam!!!! A huge shout out to Sara of Davita who did a clean sweep of introduction site!!!! Thank You Thank You!!!!!

It's been a Long time, a month since my last post because I just got so frustrated trying to find my link to post!

I hope you are all Well and taking Good Care Of Yourselves. These past couple of months have been so stressful, and now we need to be Even More Proactive with keeping ourselves and our kidneys happy. I continue to wear a mask and gloves when in public places. I live in CT and where I live the virus has spiked in t he last month.

For me the winter months were Very Long and currently our spring has been Very Wet with not much sunshine....good condition for Weeds To Grow!!! ugh my gardens are a mess. Lots to do outside and inside of my house...grr not too much motivation or self discipline in that area as the days seem to roll into each other....this is Really Bad....I don't have a wall calendar, so I look on line at the weather just to find what day it is when I really go off the Deep End. I really do need to make more of an effort.

I'm trying to keep my sanity by doing meditation...deep breathing right down to the belly and exhaling with hhaaaasss seems to work for me to reduce anxiety. Trying to take to heart what I can change and what I can not change. The Biggie is to just be grateful for my health and life, despite the few challenges, there are so many more people today who are really struggling. I just keep praying for the Highest Good For All.

I'll try and get back to posting again, again, thanks to Sara!!!

    Hi All!!!

Hope you are doing well with current situation to maintain your health! So Not Easy, yet much easier than getting sick. God Bless All those who are helping to fight the virus and care for those who have the virus. For myself, I'm inside, the temp is Cold still, at a high of 47 today....so wanting warm weather to come! My 'fat' cat needs to go out too for some chasing ?? what ever she fancy's....she's an ole gall at 16 so I only let her out when I'm outside. Lots of plans for the outside. Thank Heaven my neighbor is a young man who is very kind...he's going to help me cut down a hedge wall and put in new panels of fencing for me, such a relief!!

Today I'm posting the "Hoot Guy", I've named him that cause in my mind his type of behavior is a hoot Guess some of my thought surrounds his High Energy...this is why I'm looking more into his methods to create a Happy Kidney. The

The below link he speaks about 15 good habits to promote kidney health. I've not heard of a couple so I'll be posting links about how they are good for your kidney. As for him being on a keto diet, well I couldn't manage eating one meal a day, I have heard that fasting is a good thing to do to help clean out your body because of drinking so much fluid. The added flavoring he is using I also use True Lemon, it comes in different flavors and you can purchase at walmart, or online...I've used this along with my Britia Jug Filtered water. And a link for those new to ckd, an over all description of kidney function and treatments are based on to promote kidney health.

    Hi All!!!

Hope you are doing well and not going To Crazy!!! I can't wait for the warmer weather, my fingers and toes could be used as a freezer!! I talked with my neighbor a few days ago and he's going to help me put up wood replacements for my fence...I said "It's got to be at least 55 degrees and sunny"...Bless his heart....and...he is going to help me cut back about 30' of rose of sharon bushes too!! I said I'd pay him...No Need...Oh Yes There Is I'm still struggling with making a decision to stay in my home or move.

Not really lately, for several months I've just not felt well, low energy and moopy no mojo at all. Then with the staying home it's that much more challenging...so much I could be doing each day and the days drag by with nothing done. I'm not feeling too good about myself or my surroundings...like Jack Nickolson said "Somethings Got To Give"...well I just hope it's not my sanity!!

While hopping around looking for ways to increase red blood count cause mine is always low I found this guy...He's A Hoot...you might want to turn your sound down a bit cause he's loud. Anywho, he was at stage 5 ckd and now is back to stage 3...he didn't say any of his numbers but just watching him, well I wish I could feel/have 1/8th of his energy....as always check with your dr before making any changes to your diet.

I hope you are all well, and still sane in the safe enclosure of your home.
If you have a problem with your ears and noises, cover them with your hands...vibration sounds.
This documentary is totally off topic as far as kidney, however I'm Amazed by the Magnitude of the effects of mobile phones, melatonin, wifi. and the microwave can effect your health. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mK93gHFWXs

    I'm just Blown Away!!!

As far as I'm concerned, I normally use the speaker on my phone, the microwave, well I heat up my coffee, but am about 2' away from it while running, and the melatonin is Such a Hug Factor in our/(MY)health for getting sleep.

Not to forget the little bumble bee and the huge task it has to feed the world by pollination!

My job has a wellness program but you have to do lab work before you can join. When my labs returned our campus nurse suggested that I speak with my PCP about my results. After doing so I was referred to a specialist. Then I noticed I couldn’t keep anything down and started to gain weight. Found out the weight gain was fluid and my doctor made the decision to go ahead and put me on dialysis. visit here https://sites.google.com/site/bestes...servicereview/

Businesses online need to improve their websites if they are looking to get any benefit from it. It’s that simple. It’s not 2005 where having a website just for the sake of it will give you the edge. The competition online if fierce and only a Custom Website Design will cut it.

    Hi All!!

As I was looking for info to post today I came across this I say Yup we can!!! However to be honest, we can, and it's not an easy road we travel. Lots of sacrafices, worries, and dr apts...I find myself knowing what "I should be doing" and these days my mind and body are not cooperating with each other and I'm in heavy duty lazy mode.

Yes, being tired is a symptom of ckd along with many others...the frustrating aspect is that when people look at me, well You Look Just Fine and 'they' just don't get the 'it' of ckd. With this being said, I'm wishing you all a 'successful' Saturday and hope hope you'll have something nice to do that will lift your spirits

Hi Rippel, not too sure in what area you are looking for as RDA has a lot of different types of info, plus depending on your body weight and how tall you are would another factor. This is a full page websearch which explains a good deal with foods and ckd diet...I hope you will find here what you are looking for. One of the best things you can do for yourself now is to drink 1/2 your body weight in water, I use a brita gallon jug with filter. Ask your dr for a referal to a nephrologist and a dietitian. Get hard copy of all your most recent blood work and bring this with you to the dietitian...this is how they help you to understand what you can eat.
    Best of Luck, ml

    Hi All!!

Well I got my computer mouse back...boy oh boy did I miss having my computer~still have more to do in my house, but some is done...progress not perfection!

Today I'm writing about a drink that will help your kidney clean out toxins...it's called Barley Water. There is a process to make it and takes a bit of time, sounds good. In addition to the "Pearl Barley" fresh ginger and cinnoman sticks. On this particular utube (11:00 minutes) this woman has a lot of videos. There is an arrow after the video is done that will take you through all the different info below the video. I've done my best to write out the recipe...she did say she posted below but I couldn't find it...oh well

    https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...9284&FORM=VIRE

Barley Water with ginger and cinnoman

    Gallon of distilled water
    Pearl Barley
Thumb size of fresh ginger, organic if possible
    2 cinnoman sticks...about 4"

Rinse the barley really well until water runs clear
1 cup barely, 5 cups of water, thumb size of ginger sliced thin and 2 cinnoman sticks crumbled
put into pot, bring to boil when boiling turn down to a simmer for 25 minutes and then turn off
add 1/2 lime and 2 table spoons of organic honey

This recipe will make two servings, keep in ref. Drink first thing in am...no food. both cinnoman and ginger are also very good for you, I've put some links below. Strain really well...cheese cloth.
