In answer to your first question, I don't know if a regular urinalysis will detect protein. In answer to your second question, yes, CKD can exist independent from high blood pressure. High blood pressure is one of the major causes of kidney failure but it is far from the only one. In addition, many, but not all, people with CKD eventually develop high blood pressure because of their damaged kidneys.To the stars through difficulty!
