Potassium Citrate Substitute

I've been prescribed Potassium Citrate ER (1080mb tabs, 4x/day).
Anyone else who is on this knows how absurdly expensive this medication is.
At Walmart pharmacy, I pay $263/mo.
Using my insurance mail-order program, it's $526 for a 90-day supply.
I've been doing some research, and find this is standard pricing.

What I'd like to know is if there is another way to supplement my diet with potassium citrate, without this unaffordable expense.

I take an oral liquid dose (500mg/5ml) twice daily. Comes in 16 fl oz bottles - don't know cost but I bet its way cheaper. FWIW, Tastes terrible.

The reason why it's so expensive is the "ER" part, meaning extended release. Get the non-extended release, and it will cost you about 1/10th the cost. You'll just need to take it every 6 hours or so.

I did ask my doctor about it. He told me the Puritan Pride 99mg supplement was just fine, and to take 2 tablets, twice a day. I can purchase 500 tablets online for $12. What a relief!!
