  • PCP won’t refer me to a nephrologist

I have been seen by this new PCP a few times ( we moved and had to start over ). In the 2 years since we moved my health has continued to decline. I have other health issues that possibly contributed to my kidney disease ( digestive motility disorders/chronic dehydration ). My hematologist just did labs after my last iron infusion and since June of 2017 my GFR has been between 42 and 58. Has been 60 for over a year. My PCP doesn’t feel I need to see a specialist, my kidneys don’t hurt and wants to put me on lisistronil sp? I don’t have high blood pressure, not diabetic and struggle with hydration. I actually have a port to give myself saline fluids but had to stop because it was blowing me up and causing edema.
Is the typical? My last labs drawn this week show a GFR of 52 and 1.3 creatintine. My nutritionist is the most alarmed.
    What do I do?

You don't give your age, gfr numbers for a 30 year old may be bad but may be great numbers if you're 70. What was the reason your Dr gave you for putting you on some new med, when you asked him why?
