  • Ultrafiltration Rate

    Hi everyone,
I’ve been doing Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) for a week now and I still don’t really understand what is the ultrafiltration rate. Can anyone explain a little bit more? Also what numbers are considered to be good ultrafiltration rates?? I only do 2000 ml every exchange.

Any info would be great! Thanks!

Ultrafiltration rate. You take in 2000 ml an exchange. If you drain out 2500 ml the ultrafiltration is 500. Ultrafiltration is what you want - the more the better.

You always want a positive ultra filtration. This is the extra solution ur body releases during dialysis. I have been on PD for 3 months now and like it so much better than hemodialysis! I feel better and seem to have more energy, and if I have to be in dialysis this is the way to go.
