  • Bald spots

Ok so i have been on PD for 2 years now. I am 16 as of April and i have had bald spots for years and they have only grown and not filled in. Has anybody else had hair loss, is it from the PD treatments or is it from medicine i don't really know. Please tell me if you have had the same problem.

I would agree with Patricia.. It's most likely the meds.

I was having hair loss when I first started dialysis. They put me on renal vitamins and then once everything kind of evened out, my hair started growing back in. Mine was from all the changes happening and lack of vitamins.

This is Isaiah's mother. We have talked to the doctor back when it first started. That was when he was receiving high doses of IVIG to fight rejection. He received that for about 6 months and the spots got really bad at that point. That was back in 2011. The only thing that seems to help tje hair grow is monoxidil but he was taken off that 3 years ago due to bp leveling out. Our next step is to try Rogan per doctors orders because it has the same active ingredients as monoxidil. If you guys could help with any advice we would so very appreciate it.
          God bless you all

Google : "Hair balding with CKD." Click on the Davita site that explains how CKD can affect the hair and nails.

I have not started dialysis yet but I recall when I was on the high dosages of prednisone my hair had started thinning out and I was losing it in big chunks ... I started using argon oil as well as grape seed oil along with the hair product line called Mane and Tail ...shampoo and conditioner then sleeping with a satin cap on my head at night to prevent further hair breakage ..and I was able to keep what hair I had from falling out as well as mane and tail helped restore my strength and made my hair grow back ....this may also work for you ....( I was told mane and tail is what is used to groom horses and it's suppose to be packed with lot of vitamin that help with hair growth) ... I hope this helps you ...best of luck

Hello sweetheart, I have been on the big D for 12 long years now, and have lost more than half of my hair. I'm not sure if it true, but they mistakingly had me on 3x more Heparin than I needed! Once they took I off, my hair stopped falling out. But it never grew all back in...

the heparin they give us during dialysis is a well known drug that causes hair loss. I'm am losing my hair as well, and they wont consider the heparin factor. I am very distressed to be losing so much hair.

It sounds like you have been on PD for quite some time and that your hair loss has been increasing over the years. It can be hard to determine the exact cause of hair loss since there can be many factors at play. It is possible that your hair loss is related to the PD treatments, but it could also be related to some of the medications you are taking. Hair loss can also be caused by a lack of certain vitamins or an underlying medical condition. I can recommend having a check-up at https://newjerseyhairtransplantclinic.com/ . The docs from there will tell you the exact cause and the treatment you need.

Hey there! I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing hair loss. It can be difficult to know what might be causing it, but it's definitely worth discussing with your healthcare provider.
