I do, occasionally, experience cramping in my feet and calves during dialysis, but only very rarely after dialysis. Generally, in my experience (and in most others' experiences that I've read about), the cramping is "caused" by taking off too much fluid or taking it off too rapidly. Unfortunately, one of the only ways to manage/decrease cramping is to avoid the necessity of removing a lot of fluid. In other words, don't take in more fluid than you can get rid of (via bodily functions...in your urine, if you still urinate, stool, sweat...). Also, talk to your dialysis team/nurses/doctor and mention the cramping. They may be able to adjust the rate of extraction or maybe your dry weight even needs to be adjusted... Other than that, starting a regular routine of stretching the applicable muscles out may help, as might heating packs applied to the affected muscles. I hope you get some relief...I read somewhere that "dialysis really shouldn't cramp your style" ha ha
