  • Living Donor vs cadaver

Hi my name is Ann. im new to the forum, but not new to dialysis. I am 45yrs old and have been on dialysis for 9yrs. I started with PD but due to infection had switch to in clinic hemo. 2 yrs ago, i was diagnosed with cervical cancer, had a hysterectomy. Due to cancer i was no longer on transplant list and had to wait 2 yrs before i can become active again. It now time!!! Aug 12 was my 2 yrs cancer free. Soon i will be visiting the Spokane Sacred Hearts for the eval. I had always planned on getting a cadaver donor until recently an angel has offered to be my donor. As grateful as i am, i just concered about the additional cost. i live in Montana and the donor is in California and will need to cover the cost for travel, lodging, food, and etc...

Im hoping someone could provide some experience on what i can expect with a living donor vs cadaver.
