  • I am a match for my husband but I'm scare to donate

Well my tittle says it all, lol I am waiting on blood test and kidney mra results to know if surgery is a go but now we are both thinking about it. we have a 10 year old girl and we are scare if something were to happen to us in the operating table she will be alone. I can't find any moms out there who have donated its mostly single people who donate or couples with no kids. I don't know what to do.

Hi edgar223, thank you for sharing here and welcome to myDaVita! Have you and your husband spoken with a social worker? They may be able to help guide you through this process and address the concerns and questions you have at this time.

Wishing you and your family all the best!

I donated to my sister... if you are doubting, wait! I was overwhelmed with the post-operative pain and increased health risks associated with one kidney. I wish you and your family the best!

I donated to my husband. I was able to walk to the other end of thr transplant floor to check on him 5 hours after the surgery. I was full of pain killers, but within 3 days I was fine and out of the hospital. I feel no different and everyone works on me, just as it did prior to the procedure. It was a very easy surgery for me. The only drawback was that I couldn't drive for a couple of weeks.
