  • Potassium advice

I have been told by renal clinic I should have 60 millimols of potassium per day. Recipes seem to contain information relating to mg. Can anyone tell me the conversion or difference. Many thanks.

How confusing! And a quick Google search (which I'm guessing you already did) seems to indicate they aren't easily converted. Can you ask the clinic how to do it? Surely they know potassium in foods is measured in mg - ??

Some doctors write the diet prescription as milliequivalents instead of milligrams. To translate the 60 millimols to milligrams multiply by 39 (the atomic weight of potassium). So the answer is 2,340 mg potassium.
