  • Bavarian Slo Cooker Pot Roast

    Serves: See Note

    3 lb chuck roast
    1 tsp oil
    1/2 tsp ground ginger
    1/2 tsp black pepper
    3 whole cloves
    2 apples - cored & sliced
    1/2 yellow onion - sliced
    1/2 c. unsweetened apple juice
    4 Tbsp. flour
    4 tsp. water

    Rub roast with oil then dust with ginger and pepper. Insert cloves in roast. Put apples & onions in bottom of slow cooker and top with the roast. Pour apple juice over the roast. Cover and cook on high for 5 hours. Remove roast, apples, and onions from slow cooker. Remove cloves from meat and set meat, apples & onions aside. Make a past of the flour and water. Add to the slow cooker and cook til thick. Pour sauce over roast.

    Original recipe serves 12. Since I'm only cooking for 2, I reduce the roast to 1/2 pound but continue the rest of the recipe as is. Just adjust the quantity of meat to suit your family size and needs.

    Or make it as is and freeze for later. Then you don't have to cook when you are tired.
